A special field of dental prosthetics where, using a special software, the future shape of restorations (i.e. crowns, bridges, dentures, implant abutments, etc.) is designed. The whole process of production is computerized. Once the design phase is complete, the restoration is manufactured by a special device which produces a highly precise restoration by cutting it out of a block of chosen material. CAD CAM technology gives superior quality restorations in a shorter period of time compared to conventional manufacturing method. Designing process is simplified as it enables the production of restorations with micron precision and great aesthetics.
